Ipaq 4150 and sync

Hi All
Seem to be having a problem in that my ipaq 4150 will not sync when put on the craddle. i have to to a soft reset on the ipaq and then it will sync.

i am running active sync 3.7.1

i have tried reinstalling 3.7.1 and this worked until i rebooted the pc
i have tried different usb port on pc.
i have tried deleting and creating the partnership

are there any known sync issues with either the 4150 or AS 3.7.1

any help would be great
Many thanks

Have you tried the latest build of Activesync? The latest build is Activesync 3.7.1 Build 4034. This version addresses some USB issues with syncing. You can download it here.

Me too!!!

Getting the same thing, no green icon in my taskbar when I plug my 4150 into the cradle. THough, when I soft reset, it is detected and can sync fine! I am running the newest version of active sync, so not sure. Any one have any other ideas?

Tried new download. Didn't work.

I am having the same problem with my 4155. The only way I can get it to sync is by resetting it. Thanks for the suggestion to download the latest version of the activesync software, however, I tried that and it didn't have any effect . Same problem continues.

Also, the only way I have been able to figure out how to reset my 4155 is to go to settings and run a self test. There must be some easier way. If someone can tell me how, I would appreciate it.

Your reset button is a small hole located on the side of your PPC. You have to use the tip of the stylus to reset your device.

If it only syncs after a reset then you would suggest that you have something running on the device that may be interfering with the sync port on the device. Or the activesync process on your PPC is having some issues on your PPC after you undock your device. Typically after a soft reset activesync is not running on your device. When you place your device on the cradle then activesync starts up on your device. When you take it off of the cradle activesync will still be running on the device. Typically this is normal but if activesync on the PPC still thinks that a connection is there then the activesync process on the desktop will fail because the sync port on the device will still be in use.

Nice educated guess huh?

Stopping ActiveSync?

Thanks for your help. Sounds just like what is happening. Sometimes I have to go into the memory folder and stop ActiveSync in order to unfreeze my device. How can I be sure activesync is stopped on both my computer and device before I take it out of the cradle? It doesn't seem like just turning off the device does the job but I may be mistaken.

Also, is pressing the reset button on the device bad for the device? I see references to soft and hard resets but I don't know what they mean.

4155 with same problem

I thought I would include my name as one have the same problem. I suppose there could be something interfering with the Activesync on the PPC. However, it appears to be something in the OS. I am on the most recent ROM as well as the most recent active sync. The reason I say this is that I have nothing else running and will have the problem. If I try to switch to the active sync task, nothing happens. Everything else will launch, but not activesynce (again, on the PPC).

Anyway, I wanted to add my comments and join others in the quest for help!

The same problem on 4155

I have the same problem on my 4155. I realized that the AS on PPC freezes during the synchronization, or immediately on the end. If you have AS on PPC opened during the synch., you can see that just during the process of synch. you have no more access to tools in that program and after synchronization you can launch every program on PPC but not the activesync. The only help that I founded is reset of the PPC… If someone knows the solution, I’ll be very happy.
