Adhoc wi fi syncing with ppc 2003

I think I covered everything there. I set my wireless card on the laptop to adhoc, gave it an ip 192.168.3.10 and then set the ip of my 4150 to 192.168.3.20. I can ping the laptop, no problem. Now, I set up the wireless sync as the axim site indicated and it wouldn't sync. So I go back to my ping program and try the name of the laptop instead of the IP...nope, no pingy pingy. So I made sure that the netbios over tcp/ip was set on the xp laptop and it was. Pocket hosts isn't suppose to work with 2003, any suggestions how I get it to realize that traininglt (my laptop) = 192.168.3.10 ?

I really want to get this wifi syncing working, I think it would be just too cool. Then I'd like to use the wifi as a shared network device, we'll see what happens with that later :]

K, I found a work around. I shared my NIC on the PC as network connection sharing. Then I manually ste my IP on the iPAQ to 192.168.0.2, with the gateway and Names server both as 192.168.0.1. That is the new IP of my wireless on my PC when you put on connection sharing. Now I can sync because it finds the laptop by name.

Few thinks are absolutely necessary:

Few thinks are absolutely necessary:

1. NetBIOS as you know don’t use special characters for your PDA name.
2. If you have a IDS or Firewall open TCP connection to ports: 139 and 445
3. well…

best think you can do is go to: http://www.wifizard.com/tutorialsXP/sync/index.htm
there you will find the full version of my Pictorial.

Cheers,
Ivan

The only problem is that it doesn't take any variations into effect. What happens if the computer you want to connect to is on a domain? In my case I had to edit the registry.

Come on people, spill the beans here. We won't learn and be able to help if we don't share how we fixed things.
