ActiveSync help needed
Hi,

I am new to the whole PPC thing. I have just got an IPAQ 5550 and have set up the cradle on USB on my home PC and downloaded ActiveSync 3.7.1 and all is fine.

I would like to be able to link to my laptop at work as well. I have bluetooth on the laptop and have managed to get the laptop and IPAQ talking to each other.

I have a bluetooth serial port set up on COM7 but ActiveSync wont find the IPAQ.

All help would be greatly appreciated.

Ian

Sounds like you have half of the battle done but there is one last part. Activesync on your desktop will not automatically detect your bluetooth serial port connection until you configure it. Open AS on the desktop. Goto File -> Connection Settings. For the serial port box select the proper serial port on the laptop that bluetooth is using. Once that is done then one you make a connection AS on the laptop will detect the device.

the problem is that AS will only show the connection wizard when i go into file|select. Do i need to connect via the cable first ?

For wifi you do but not for bluetooth. Bluetooth uses a COM port to connect. This is like using the cable but without it. Click on the File menu and go down to Connection Settings. Make sure the "Allow serial cable or infrared connection to this COM port:" is checked and then select the COM port that is assigned to Bluetooth on your laptop.
