I JUST PURCHASED AN IPAQ 4135. OWNED A TOSHIBA BEFORE, SO HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE.

MY PROBLEM IS I CANNOT SYNC POCKETWORD FILES FROM MY IPAQ TO MY PC NOR WORD FROM MY PC TO THE PDA. ALL OTHER CATEGORIES SYNC FINE AND I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE TOSHIBA. I NOTICED TODAY THAT MY NOTES WERE ACTUALLY SYNCING WHERE THE FILES SHOULD BE. I DELETED THEM. BUT STILL NO FILES. THERE IS A FILE ON MY PC WITH MY PDA NAME BUT NOTHING COMES INTO OR GOES OUT OF IT. Just to make sure... You have specified the folders where your files reside in ActiveSync: Options>Files>Settings>Add. Right?

YES I HAVE. THE COMPUTER GAVE ME A MAJOR FILE ON MY DESKTOP AND I HAVE TRIED ADDING A NUMBER OF FILES BUT NOTHING WORKS.

I AM WONDERING ABOUT THIS. THE ACTIVESYNC THAT IS INSTALLED IS FROM MY OLD PDA WHICH WAS NOT AN HP. IT DID NOT USE THE WORD "POCKETWORD". COULD IT BE THAT THIS IS NOT INSTALLED ON MY DESKTOP. I AM AFRAID TO REINSTALL ACTIVESYNC FOR FEAR OF "ROCKING THE BOAT" SO DO NOT WANT TO UNLESS IT IS NECESSARY. I DID CHECK WITH HP WHEN I FIRST INSTALLED (BEFORE I REALIZED I HAD THIS PROBLEM) AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT NECESSARY. First, STOP SCREAMING! Caps is considered yelling in internet etiquette.

Second. There's no harm what so ever in unistalling/reinstalling AS. If you want to keep the contents of your PC's sync folder, just say "No" when AS asks you to whether you want to delete folders on your PC.

Before you attempt to re-install, are the word docs located in your Pocket PC My Documents folder on your PC?

Okay. I did reinstall as and I have gotten the docs to the pc. But only by chance. I do not know what I did. Also, I only sometimes have been able to transfer the other way. So it appears to work, but I do not know why. Also, the documents only come up when i hit explore etc. on the as button. I appear to have two folders, which is what I think is mixing everything up. I have one with documents/"name of pda with reverse arrows" and another without the arrows. I also have a very long string under Ipaq File Store with duplicates of Ipaz Backup. Could this be the problem.

You need to be much more specific about your setup, what you see and what the problem is.

First, are these two folders on your Pocket PC or your PC?

Second, give the full path names of these folders and the synchronized file folder on your PC.

Third, what is the Device Name of your Pocket PC that is shown in the About settings applet on the Device ID tab?

Fourth, tell us the release of ActiveSync you're using.

Fifth, what does the iPAQ File Store have to do with this? That doesn't get synchronized at all.

Tell us as much as you can about your setup, then give us a precise list of steps that you're doing and exactly what you see after each step.

Hi, Im having a problem very like this guys. I moved a file from my PC to my pocket PC a couple of days ago. I might have moved the files location since then, dont remember. But, now when I try to sync with my PC the Pocket PC wont sync that one particular file. I tried to delete this file from both the PC and the Pocket PC to just try and get rid of the problem, but it still says it wont sync that file. The Pocket PC wont even let me delete it now. Give this error: "Cannot delete 'jockbeat': There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use."

Okay. In addition to providing the info that Pony requested, can you also verify:
1. On your PC under your My Documents directory you have a sub-directory called <your PPC Name> My Documents.

2. On your PPC, you have a directory off the root called My Documents.

3. In AS, when you go to Tools->Options. Make sure File sync is checked. Select Files and click the settings button. Make sure the directory path in "On this computer, Synchronize files in this folder" points exactly to the path of the Pocket PC My Documents folder on the PC.

From what I understand, you say that when you open WORD on your PPC, you don't see any docs? In the Word file screen make sure you have "All Folders selected". Second, when you see the files on your PPC in Explorer, if you double click on it, does the file open up in Word?

See if goint to AS->Tools->options->Files->Settings and removing the file from the list of AS files helps.

If not, it may sound crazy but does the deleted file on your PC still reside in the Trash can? If it does, empty your trash and re-sync.

The mpg was no longer in the trash, and I had already removed the mpg from the Files Settings. I dont see any reason as to why this is happening.
Got any other suggestions for me?

Did you still have the MPG viewer open on either your PC or Pocket PC? If so, it may still have a lock on the file.

Another trick would be to try putting the file back into both places. Sync again and see if the error goes away. If it does, delete the file in one place and sync again.

Horrah, I have got it. All I did was the replace the file on the PC where it says it is on the PocketPC. Then when I did that it came up with a "resolve file." I then did that, and it came up with some error. So, when I then tried it again the same exact way, I just change the direction that i wanted it to change. I dont really understand it that much... But hey... IT WORKS!!!
