Connecting via Infrared

hello,

i would like to establish a connection between my PPC and PC via infrared adapter, but AS is unable to find the connection. i'm using EdisonSoft ES-620 USB Infrared Adapter on WinXP. it is installed perfectly and works without any problems while using for connecting my mobile phone.

please note that i don't like to sync my device with my PC, just for transferring files from PC to PPC and vice versa (of course with file conversions).

can anybody help me with this one? (good to mention that i'm using AS 3.7)

thnx,
Sean

First thing to do is upgrade to AS 3.7.1.

Also if you are not going to sync via IR but just transfer files you really don't need AS. If the PPC and PC is in range of each other it should detect. Then you can choose to send files within File Explorer but doing a Tap and hold on the file and select Beam File.

as i said before, i need to transfer files from PC to PPC and vice versa with required file conversions. this process can be done with AS.

when i beam a file to my PC it accepts it, but i don't know why AS is unable to detect my device!

My infrared has stopped after syncing via infrared for about a year at work. The port on the laptop just won't work.

Check in AS help for infrared if you haven't already setup the com port...
To connect to your desktop computer with infrared, on the File menu, click Connection Settings. In the Allow serial cable or infrared connection to this COM port list, select Infrared Port (IR).

this is what i do to start a connection:

1- putting PPC in the range of infrared adapter.
* WinXP finds it as Another Computer
2- starting AS and using Connection Settings.
3- changing COM port to Infrared Port (IR).
4- clicking on Get Connected button.
* AS starts to find the device
5- AS says that no device were found!

i also tried to use AS on my PPC and Connect Via IR menu item, but the result was similar.

it is good to mention again that the IR adapter works perfectly while connecting to my mobile phone.

thanks,
Sean
