Can't restore after hard reset
Hi folks. Having some problems with a tdk bluepaq expansion pack so I eventually gave up, did a full backup of the 3850 and then a hard reset. Unit works fine, but on connecting, it refuses to restore my previous back up as it thinks its a different machine. Any ideas?

When using Activesync backup it is best to connect the PPC as guest after a hard reset. Don't establish a partnership. Once connected as guest you can goto Restore, select your backup file and restore to the PPC.

Thanks, but I've tried and failed with that. It seems to be doing something, the tdk bluepaq bluetooth pack drivers are partially restored, but none of my other programs return and none of my outlook data, (contacts etc) return.
I originally did the hard reset after the bluepaq appeared to have failed so I thought I'd try again from the ground up. Any ideas if this is causing the problem? If so, what other bluetooth add ons could I add to my 3850, (running PPC 2003). Have TomTom 3 for sat nav and really need bluetooth to run it.. Edited to add. When trying to resotre, it looks like it goes through the motins, asks me to disconnect and soft reset, then on reconnection it appears to be a new machine to the PC and I get the option to set a new/guest partnership again.. | |||

Based on your last explanation I am confused. It sounds like the restore did work. When you do a Activesync restore it will ask you to disconnect and do a soft reset. So is your problem with Activesync after the restore?

Got a better idea where the problem is. Restore won't allow me to select the backup file I made to restore from. Basically there are now 2 hardware profiles on the PC, the full one and one thats been set up when I connected as a guest. (I think I originally copied the bluepac drivers and a load of other stuff over when connected as a guest ages ago).
Activesync seems to work fine after the resore, I think the problem must be somethign like a corrupted backup file on the PC, hence it won't allow me to select it to restore from. Just in case I might have done something by firstly restoring from guest by accident I've done another hard reset and same happens. Won't allow me to restore from my full backup file. Quote:
