Belkin Bluetooth and Active Sync Not Working After XP SP2
After windows XP Service Pack 2 was installed, my Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter (F8T001) ceased to function. Following directions given on the Belkin.com support site, I managed to re-enable their software but still can not get Active Sync to communicate with my PDA via the Bluetooth Adapter.

Upon connecting via Bluetooth, it appears that the 'generic serial device' is being assigned Com port 40 and above. Active sync does not appear to be able to access those com ports and I can not seem to re-asign it to a lower port.

Active Sync also does not show up in Belkin's configuration wizard.

Even when I uninstall the belkin drivers, the windows bluetooth drivers do not allow me to configure a generic serial port access to a com port below 40.

Any thoughts? I've been trying to solve this problem for more than a week.

Belkin's website had contained some useful information about their adapter and service pack 2 but has since taken the information down. Now I can only find the french version of the fix.

Welcome to iPaqHQ!

Windows XP SP2 can bring some problems especially with BT. SP2 includes its own set of drivers for BT. As you have mentioned the idea is to reassign the BT adapter to another COM port that you can use with AS. The question I have is this; are you using the Microsoft BT drivers or are you using the drivers that came with your adapter?

I have tried both the Microsoft BT drivers and the Belkin drivers. Neither will allow me to selec a COM port compatible with Active Sync. It is driving me insane.

Contacted Belkin support today. Unfortionately they do not yet have a solution to the problem. I was told "it has to do with microsoft not allowing use of the lower com ports".. I was also told by support "no idea when the problem will be fixed". Belkin seemed to be completely unaware of this issue but did not deny that it exists.

I had the same problem with mine and ended-up going out and buying a more up-to-date Kensington dongle.
