Device Name already in use

While on vacation, I let my IPAC batteries run down. Now when I try to sync, I am getting the message 'Device name is already in use'. I have to believe there is some option that allows me to once again sync my device. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thank you.

Disconnect the PDA and open ActiveSync. Delete the existing partnership and create a new one (of course with the same PDA name).

Hi
If you have any backups on either the ppc or pc you can restore the backups to solve this problem.

ppc backup
simply setup the ppc with your current time zone info etc then restore and try resyncing.

pc backup
connect to the pc, then select guest syncronisation from the popup screen, restore the backup file using the activesync menu.

either of these solutions will work and you wont loose any data like you would if you delete the partnership on your pc.

good luck
rob

Forgive the simple question, but why would you lose data by just deleting the partnership? Wait...reading while typing....I see he had a hard reset, so you would lose the documents folder (if you were already syncing Files).

Sorry for the quick response...did you make a backup to an SD card? That would be faster than ActiveSync
