Is this even possible?

Ok, here is what I would "like" my Ipaq to do.

I have my wireless turned off during the day unless I'm using it.
Can I set up my Ipaq so that when I get home, and put the Ipaq in the cradle it triggers the following things.

- turn on wireless
- ActiveSync to my PC via wireless
- possibly turn of wireless when done?

If this can't be triggered by putting the Ipaq in its cradle, can I set a specific time do the same, ie:

- turn on wireless
- ActiveSync to my PC via wireless
- possibly turn of wireless when done?

Is there some sort of task scheduler?

Thanks!!!

Hmmm...if you were to put the pda in the cradle, why would you want to turn on wi-fi and sync? Couldn't you just use the regular sync since it's in the cradle?

I believe you can setup schedules for syncing, don't think it would turn on the wi-fi for you though.

I'm sure there are some type of "cron" apps that can run apps at certain times, the trick would be it has to domore than just run the ipaqwireless app, it has to also set the wi-fi on or off....

The reason I wanted to use wi-fi for syncing was because I didn't want to have to keep my cradle near my computer. Plus wi-fi is just cooler.

Having your cradle away from your computer is fine for charging purposes. However placing it in the cradle won't trigger the wifi radio. You can most definately schedule activesync to syncronize using a mobile schedule. If this is something that you want to do then I would setup the PPC to turn off automatically every 5 minutes or so. Turn the wifi radio on. Then schedule the AS mobile sync schedule on the PPC. Also config AS to disconnect once syncing is finished. It will then sync at the interval you set and disconnect the connection. Then the PPC will turn off after 5 minutes.

What is important is getting AS to drop its connection. The PPC will not turn off while AS is connected.

Is there any way to schedule my wi-fi radio to turn on and off? Any program thats lets you schedule tasks like that? Maybe a program that simulates stylus clicks, like a macro recording tool of some sort?

Yes, I'm lazy.

Not saying that there isn't anything out there but I have not seen any programs like that.

I know that Vito Button Mapper can record taps and assign them to a button push. I do recall a program that allowed you to schedule programs but I can't remember the name or find it. Will WiFI connect when the unit is on? You can set an alarm and create a long wav file for the alarm, or a song. The alarm comes on, wifi connects and you're there...or not.
