Is it the PPC?
Hi all. I will be as brief as possible. I'm a new member but not a newbie to my situation.
After trying to solve my ppc problem on my own for quite some time, I've chosen this forum to try and get some advise and help because you bunch seem to be the most friendly and the most knowledgeable. I've read most of the threads I could find on the subject on this site as well as others. I am on my 3rd Ipaq 1945. It suits my needs perfectly and I've grown used to it. Replaced the first one (Best Buy purchase) last June because screen bit it and it wasn't covered on the service plan. When the 2nd one stopped syncing in August (tried all the typical remedies) brought it back to Best Buy and they couldn't get it to sync either. Went to ppc counter to replace it and it seems BB is getting out of the ppc business. Couldn't even get one online. Got them to give me my $300 back. Shopped around for what was on the market for that price range and found nothing I liked so I bought a new 1945 on ebay for about $175. This latest 1945 did the exact same thing the 2nd one did. Would plug in to sync and green light with accompanying sound would switch on and off like it was a loose connection. It would ultimately sync and stay synced but every so often it would re-sync like if I bumped the desk. But after a few weeks of this it just stopped. It doesn't work on my wife’s pc either both decent Dells running xp home. Other USB devices work on both pcs. From the threads I've read this seems like a bad switchboard. If so has any of you heard this problem with 1945s? What are the odds of the exact same thing happening? Could my pc have a virus that could cause this to happen? I would doubt it but I'm pretty frustrated. So...that's my story. I have a pretty good idea of what people who know more than I will have to say but I look forward to it just the same. Even just for the moral support. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond. Appreciatively, Steel

Well I'd say luck has on your side [both kinds;-)] but you seem to indicate a platform problem? Perhaps it's just a bad batch of units; can we infer anything from the serial# what vintage / source the unit is, assume they were built by more than 1 facility and run?
As to sync, I wish there were a trace ability to see what it was [not] doing when the unit is inserted into its cradle. It might lead me to suspect a communication problem between the PC and PPC... (between async and battery [not]charing these are the two largest issues I've heard about PPC but suspect it's more complicated than palm?)

Welcome to the site Steel Breeze!
![]() Sorry to hear about your issues with your device. Indeed it sounds like a bad connection. I wonder if your sync cradle that you used is the common thread between your 2nd and 3rd h1945 PPCs. I am beginning to think that maybe the cradle may be bad. Have you tried a different sync cable? Cradles going bad is not outside the realm of possibility. I am suspicious of this since it won't sync on your PC or your wife's.

Thanks for the reply. I really to appreciate it.
I've never used a cradle. Just the original sync cable that comes with the unit. So in both cases I've used a different cable. My gut tells me I just got 2 bad units. I know in the large scheme of things worse things can happen.
