In XP pair the device to Windows Bluetooth manager and take note of the device's incoming com port number.
In activesync go to connection settings and check the box that says 'Allow serial cable or infrared connection to this COM port' then select the com port as above. That should be it. Get a 100m bluetooth adaptor and you'll always be connected.

Hey guys i have a Desma Bluetooth Dongle for my PC and everytime I try to use bluetooth to sync somthing strange happens. when I connect to two together on the PC it recognises it and allocates COM 10 and COM 11, but active sync only recognise COM1,2,3 and no more. Any help u can give is really apreciated. Should I try downloading the latest Activsync?? think i have version 3.7 atm

Niblo, Bluetooth manager in Control Panel if your running XP SP2 your installed BT manager will be overidden by Windows. There is a way to reinstate this but can't recall where I've seen it.
This happened to me and the following was successful. With Activesync running and connected; Delete your device from the bluetooth manager and re-pair it, then check activestink and the incoming com port should be there.

i have a similar problem
before i installed sp2, i could sync via BT no problems. but now my pda cant see my bt enabled laptop. before it could after i installed the widcomm drivers. however with the internal windows bt manager, i suspect theres conflict the installation method i performed was: - install widcomm drivers - plug in my BT dongle (class 1) - windows automatically installed its internal drivers

Follow this fella's site carefully. Basically, what happens is every time you install drivers for your dongle. Windows circumvents them by installing its own in their place. Find section where to rename XP Bluetooth drivers and go from there. Peace. WR
