Anyway to create dummy AS account? w/o cradle or cable

I dusted off my old 3630 to use as a mapopolis GPS unit in my car, everything on the unit works ok cept I cant for the life of me find any syncing hardware (cradle or cable) sooo no biggie I just need to get the bluetooth drivers on the Cf card and install the cabs from there right? Nope, I have 2 Bt options to try the Expansion pack w/ BT from HP and a Billionton CF BT card. Both of them require installing the files directly on the iPaq. I've tried every which way but loose to extract the cabs and or files from both software and nada. Sooo I would like to create a fake AS profile so it might que these files up and then I can pull the cabs from a temp directory. I've tried everything I can think of, to date they have been:

Extract BT cabs/drivers from installer
PocketPC SDK w/ emulator (almost worked but communications error when connected with AS)
Alternate BT drivers from other companies
screaming
begging my friends for an old cradle
screaming

I know I know call me a cheap bastard, they are @$10 with shipping on eBay but dangit I'm a cheap bastard.

Anyone have any idea's?

Before I answer your question - just a quick question of my own - without any cradle or cables how are you chargung your device - do you have special wifi electricity or something

Anyway to answer your question.

when you try to install a programme from an .exe file - it (usually) creates a directory - C:\Program Files\Microsift Activesync\name of programme\

If you cancel the installation it does not delete that directory, and then within it are usually the .cab files from within the .exe file.

Let us know if this works for you.
Regards

Rob

Go to Chris De Herrera's site, www.cewindows.net. It's probably the most comprehensive ActiveSync info site around. He even has code how to set up AS as Guest with full syncing. If you can't find an answer here, cough up the $10!

ironguy, thanks for the reply. that site is loaded with info and i'll definately dig thought it.

As far as charging, I'm just using the standard barrel plug method. Fortunatly it's a pretty standardsize and voltage, in fact my Fortuna Clipon GPS has the same plug and voltage and came with a nice Y adapter

Regarding the temp files sadly i did check and they dont get created. I was actually running the setup proggy and on the final screen before the error I did a complete system search for all files created today and found many temp files for the program but none were usable.
