Active Sync won't sync calendar, contacts, etc (Freezes up)

Hi: Windows XP, AS 3.8, ipaq rz1715

Activesync recognizes notes and files, and will sync.

When I try to get it to sync calendar, contacts, etc, it freezes at about 30% and my ipaq freezes and I have to do a soft-reset. Help!
