ipaq will no longer sync contacts, calendar or notes
my Ipaq will no longer sync the above, in the options menu there is no longer a tick box against these items, it just says they are not installed? I have recently downloaded the Microsoft beta copy of their new spyware, I wonder if there is any connection? I have tried synching another ipaq on the same pc with the same result.

Does AS say GUEST when you connect? Even if it doesn't, try deleting the current partnerships and trying again. When your iPaq is NOT in its cradle open AS and got to File>Delete partnerships and delete the partnerships. Do a soft reset on your iPaq and then put it in the cradle. Follow the prompts to create a partnership. Let us know how you get on.

fixed it
it seems that the beta spyware from Microsoft or Mozilla - not sure which software was responsible - had eaten some mapi files so - I found and renamed all the mapi32.dll and msmapi32.dll and then rebooted and ran Outlook and did a detect and repair - still no joy, but then I rebooted and did a fix Office problems from the Control panel and low and behold it was fixed - yeah!:-)
I was finding it hard to function without my calendar on my Ipaq. hope this will work for you kpfoten. Quote:

Wow, much thanks! I'll give it a try and see what happens.
What should I rename those .dll files? Also, when I run activesync, should I have both Office and Outlook running? I think the office toolbar loads automatically, I'm just wondering what the exact sequence should be once I boot up my computer. Kris

repair office
Quote:
go to "Control Panel", click "Add/Remove programs" Highlight "Microsoft Office". Click "Change" Wait for the software to load and then Clcik "Repair Office" re=boot your machine and try synching in the normal way - Good Luck! let us know if it works. Forgot to say, it does'nt really matter what you rename the mapi files to but I renamed them as .dll_orig if you don't have copy of mapi32.dll in D\WINNT\System32 you can copy one from C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033" I had one in there anyway.

Thanks for your suggestions!
I was able to resolve the issue without replacing or renaming any files... it seems that a simple office repair did the trick. Thanks to all... I was having one heck of a time figuring the issue out.

I never had this problem until I accidently left the iPAQ on and the battery ran down. When I restored the files on it, the computer didn't recognize it. so I tried a new partnership and it lists calendar and contacts but there is not check box. It says they are not installed on the computer, although of course they are.
I have followed all the suggestions in this thread without success. Any more ideas? Thanks for your help.
