Ipaq randomly turns on in cradle
Hey guys,
I have been noticing that my ipaq 4350 will randomly turn on when in the cradle and charging. I'm not too sure if it's only when the battery is full, but I have woken up several mornings, looked over and noticed that when in the cradle, it randomly turns itself on. Does anyone know what would be causing it to spiratically "wake up". I have gone into the active sync options both on my PC and PPC, and can't figure it out. I also made sure that I disconnected the PPC from my PC, so it can't be my laptop sending a message over to start up. When I looked this morning on my PPC, I noticed there was sync done at 6:02am (while I was sleeping), but on my laptop it says the last sync was 12:15am...What the hell is the ipaq syncing with? Any ideas guys...is there a setting that will keep it off at all times in the cradle unless I choose to turn it on? thanks guys.

This is normal. The PPC will turn on at midnight. Though it is usualy only for a minute or two and then turn off.
This article will explain it.

Ya except here is the issue...I woke up at 6:30am this morning, to find my ipaq fully turned on in the cradle, at the today screen. Mine will not only turn on at midnight...it stays on.
This morning I did a complete backup of the ipaq, and then did a hard reset (deleted all the data), and then restored it back. Hopefully if it was a setting, I fixed it by doing this... Still though, any ideas why it would turn on, and stay on???

Mail program ?
I have the same problem with my IPAQ 6315. I can't exactly remember when it started, but it happens every 15 minutes.
I believe it started after I set up my email accounts and set it up to check for mail every 15 minutes. I had immediately removed that setting, but apparently there is some registry entry on the pocket pc that never got reset. I tried backing up everything and restoring after a hard reset, but that didn't help. I am going to try to see if it will get cleared after a hard set and a new sync with the PC instead of restoring from the backup. I will keep u updated.

Yes ! It definitely is the E-mail that was doing it. I did a hard-reset on the device and re-sync'd with Outlook and it seems to be ok now. So, beware - If you set your e-mail account to check for mail every n minutes and if you change it back, it is still going to do it every n minutes. The easiest way to confirm it would be to set the option again and change the interval and see if it changes the interval at which the device switches on.
