Hi Tom. Welcome to the site. This is likely because ActiveSync is converting the file from PocketExcel to Desktop Excel during the sync process and not all settings make it through the conversion process. This can be turned off for all file types or just for Excel. To change the settings, open/maximize ActiveSync on your desktop at home. Open the Options tab, then choose Rules. Open Conversion Settings. If you want to stop conversion on all files types, you can do so on the first screen. If you want to select individual file types and in which direction to allow conversion, select the appropriate tab (device to desktop and/or desktop to device) and select Pocket Excel Workbook and edit the settings. If you modify the file on your desktop, you will need to remember to use the Save As command and make sure and choose Pocket Excel as the file type or you won't be able to use the file on your PPC the next time you open it there.
EDIT: Actually, you don't have the option to save as pocket excel in Excel 2000 on the desktop. (You do in Word). SO if you edit it on your desktop and you have conversion turned off, you won't be able to use the file on your PPC. Depending on how much you use this file and or Excel, you might want to consider inversting in PlanMaker. It isn't cheap, but it has most of the features of Desktop Excel and you won't have the problem anymore. Alternatively, if you are using the spreadsheet to store passwords or other realtively simple personal info, you might want to look at a program like FlexWallet. There are links to both programs in my View MyPDA sections. Hope that helps.
