Please help with wireless ActiveSync
Hi, I am hoping for some help. I have a 2 week old rx3115 and want to use it and do wireless synchronizations. Here is what I have done so far. I can sync it to the USB port of my computer, I can access my wireless system in the house and be on line. I can ping the designated computer by wireless. I can ping the wireless access point (WAP) and I can ping my DNS server (computer with cable modem attached). I have read lots of web pages on this topic and downloaded Microsoft ActiveSync 3.8 which supports this. I have installed vxUtil and pocketWinc in my PPC to help sort this out.
Let me describe the system a little more. Internet access enters my home network on a single computer with cable modem (192.168.0.1). I have several computers wired on a hub including (192.168.0.99 is the one I sync to) and a WAP (192.168.0.85). We have two laptops which access wireless and operate correctly. In order to sync to the .99 computer, the PPC would then have to access the wireless network (not encrypted by the way) and then route to the .99 machine by ethernet. The .99 computer has been properly prepared as far as I can can see. It has NO firewall or fireware software. The firewall is only on the 0.1 machine. ActiveSync has been told to allow Ethernet and remote access services (RAS) as well as USB. The TCP/IP ethernet port on the .99 computer has told to enable NET/Bios over TCP/IP.
Any suggestions out there?? Thanks.
