Computer Freezes each time I synch PPC
I've just done a clean-install of Windows XP with SP2 and every other update available. I've installed All my programs from scratch, but now, when I try to synch my pocket PC using ActiveSynch 3.8, the minute I connect the handheld to my computer via the USB port, I hear the sound recognizing the new device, but windows freezes and nothing else can be done but a Hard turn-off, and restart. I've tried adding it to the list of exceptions in my Firewall, and uninstalling and reisntalling ActiveSynch 3.8 for good measure. The computer always freezes.
What could be causing this? I certainly have the latest drivers and software installed on my computer. What else could it be? And how could I fix this? Is there an update I need to do to my PPC? And if so, how can this be done, when as soon as I connect my ppc to my computer, my computer freezes. Thanks to anyone with some ideas.

![]() It appears you may have a conflict problem. If you have any other USB devices connected to your computer I suggest unplugging all of the other devices other then the cradle. Reboot your computer and try to sync then. If it syncs OK then you have an issue with a conflicting USB device that is on the same USB BUS.

I am sorry if sounds dumb or may have been mentioned.
Windows built in firewall can cause headaches like such. If the USB diag doesnt help try checking your Fwall in XP SP2. Peace WR

I'm having the exact same problem!!! I recently purchased an Acer TravelMate 4500 and I can not get my iPAQ to sync. Total computer lockup every time. I have tried the following:
*Log in as administrator *Disabled firewall and anti virus software *Sync via USB, Serial, and IR *Updated ActiveSync as well as the iPAQ Bios. *Disconnected all other external devices Running out of ideas....

Did you connect the USB cable/ cradle before installing ActiveSync - as you need to install AS BEFORE you connect the cradle.
Have a look in Control Panel>System>Device Manager to see if you have any problem devices (they will show up as yellow or red).
