ActiveSync 4.0 and H3950

Hi all...
I have a problem syncronizing my H3950 with ActiveSync 4.0...
All was working fine... till the beginning of this week...
My ipaq connects, I can install and remove applications and browse the filesystem, but AS keeps telling me that there are communications problems with the PPC...

Any idea 'bout that????

CAn I ask why you are using AS4 - which is in Beta stage rather than the current 3.8

After just some quick googling, it doesn't look like there is an authorized, publicly released beta for AS4.0. Every site that had a link posted to it the link was broken or unavailable.

Well, I don't want to get anyone in trouble for posting information to something that is a leak like that. I just would love to know if it helps the SP2 + Sync over wifi issues.

What issues are you encountering - I sync via wifi with SP2 applied to a Home and a Pro machine

Do not try AS 4.0 if you are trying to sync via WiFi. WiFi syncing does not work at all with the beta version that is out there and once you've installed AS 4.0, you cannot go back to any previous version.

As for syncing with the current version, can you ping the PC's IP from the PPC?
What firewalls are you using on the PC? One solution I've seen posted on Aximsite is to reset the XP firewall to the defaults and then allow AS access when it detects the connection.

1) I can access the PC file shares just fine via WiFi. I can also ping the PC.
2) I am able to sync the Exchange Server portion of the sync. Just not the part where I talk to the PC.
3) I have tried the reseting to default firewall. When I then hit sync on the PPC, nothing prompts. I do get the prompt when I put it back in the cradle. I then try to sync via wifi and nothing. Currently in Windows XP SP2 (which is part of an active directory), the firewall is completely disabled.
4) Same problem in 3.7.1 as 3.8.
5) I have followed that other thread and tried all suggestions. I have read every faq and post I can find. Quite a few people it seems have come to the conclusion that there is just something fucked up there. I've come to the same conclusion and I think the fact that AS4 doesn't work PERIOD might explain some of this.
6) Just tonight I tried uninstalling AS 3.8, clearing all AS directorys in Documents and Settings and in program files, clearing all registry entries, rebooting a few times, etc. Back to the same place.

My theory? Every thing I have read says I should have 4 ports open and I have those open. However, when I run NMAP against my machine I see that only one is listening (off the top of my head, 5678) and the rest nmap marks as filtered. Considering how anal I am about what runs on my machine, I know its not some secondary firewall. I have a feeling it is tied to the SP2 firewall + AS settings.
