outlook no longer installed
[FONT=Tahoma]question..... i have a ipaq 1945 w/ ppc 2003 pro and outlook 2002. recently migrated it to a new pc w/ XP pro and outlook 2003 sp1 and upgraded to activesync 3.8.
when i connect via USB, i get the following error message... "MS outlook is no longer installed, so activesync cannot continue to run. to continue synchronization, reinstall MS outlook, etc....". at which time it will sync my inbox, but nothing else. i have uninstalled activesync, performed a detect and repair on outlook, reinstalled activesync and soft reset on the ipaq, w/o any success. any thoughts or recommendations...? thanks

If it syncing your inbox then can you check in AS on your desktop that "sync with server " is not selected as this can stop the other items from sync'ing. If it is selected, deselect it and try to sync again.
If that doesn't work then I would try the following: Uninstall AS from your PC Go to Control Panel>Add Remove Programs> Outlook (or Office if that is installed)>Change > Repair Unplug your cradle. Reboot your PC. Soft reset you iPaq Install AS - (add cradle when it tells you) Create partnership

Just had the same problem - was getting really frustrated, until I remembered to look on IpaqHQ!
Problem solved - I think it was something to do with the registry still pointing to DLLs for Outlook 2000 even though I've just installed 2003. Uninstall a/s, repair outlook, reinstall, re-partner worked fine. Thanks!!

Just repair Outlook enough...
Hi All,
I had the same problem, and after reading the other posts, I tried to repair outlook first, without uninstalling ActiveSync etc. as I hoped this was not needed. Indeed, only repairing outlook/office (2003) was enough to make it work again. repair outlook (select outlook "Help-detect and repair..." menu, to be complete). After finishing, just reconnect your device and it works! Thanks other members for previous suggestions. Very useful, and takes away a lot of irritation! Pascal

Just to keep this going
If you're at the stage where repairing Outlook doesn't work & you feel that you need to re-install Outlook, try the following:(Only do this if you have a copy of all your Outlook stuff on your PPC) Search for & delete the *.pst file on your PC. When you next open Outlook the file will be recreated (although you will have lost all your Outlook entries - hence the warning). Try to AS again & (hopefully) all your entries will be copied back across from your PPC.

Also due to the time periods set on syncing it is unlikely that your PDA will have everything that is on your desktop Outlook (which may, or may not, matter).

Thanks heaps
Thanks guys for your very useful advice, fixed my problem where the inbox was getting sync'd but not the calendar. A further note, I am using Outlook 2003 & if you click on Help you can access Detect & Repair directly from here - this is how I did it & it worked a treat. Cheers!
