Active Stink!

Why does Active Sync HAVE to create a new partnership each time you try to sync your PDA after it hard resets or the battery dies and is recharged. It is soooooooooooo annoying. Perhaps in the next update they can get Active Sync to look at what is actually on your computer already and notice that the PDA has reset and then put 2 and 2 together? Argh!!!!

I agree with you that it is annoying. But on the other hand, you shouldn't have to be Hard Resetting your device all that often.

Yah, well count your blessings. If you've ever tried syncing in Linux you'll truely appreciate the simplicity of the windows sync.

I keep forgetting to charge my battery or when I don't use it for a while, it dies. Then I have to go through the rigmaroll of setting up partnerships again. Its just annoying!

Is there any other syncing software available on the market?

When you first create your partnership any information pertaining to the partnership is stored in the PPC's registry. Of course when a hard reset occurs then the registry is wiped and the factory default registry is put in place which has no AS partnership information. When you sync your PPC there is a handshake between the desktop and the PPC. The desktop knows who the PPC is but the PPC has no idea who the desktop is so a full handshake is not granted and thus the desktop will try to establish a new partnership.

I agree with JNGold that you should not have to hard reset your device very often. I would recommend backing up your device (if you don't already). A full backup will also store your registry. So if a hard reset occurs you can just restore from backup and then the next time you sync you will not have to create a new partnership.

I never understood why people always knock Bill Gates.
If one doesn't like Microsoft, and/or Bill Gates, then why not switch to Linux, or anything OTHER than Microsoft.

I personally think that he's done a tremendous job with the computer industry.

I also think it's just our "nature" to always find the bad within all the good nowadays.
We're never happy, no matter what we get. (People in general)

This is where I say...if you want it better...then MAKE it better.

After a hard reset, just go back in and change the name back to what your computer has(default is pocket_pc i believe). I have mine set as iPAQ. The folder on my computer is set as that also, so i just rename my PPC back to iPAQ and it syncs right back up!

Are you a fully paid up member of the Bill Gates fan club? Blimey, no-one is specifically criticising Bill Gates or Microsoft. The whole point of the post was to say that it is annoying that every time your battery dies for whatever reason, you have to create a new partnership and that perhaps this could be rectified in an update.
