wireless syncing

I was finally able to sync with my laptop using the usb cable. But now I am trying to sync using my wifi network and it just keeps saying 'not connected'. I followed the steps from this site: http://wifi.aximsite.com/sync.html. Any ideas out there to fix this?

Most likely a firewall is blocking it.

Would it more likely be the firewall on my pc (through norton) or on the router? Is there a way to get around it?

On the PC. The router should be blocking things from the web, not your LAN. I would start by trying to disable Norton (I assume you mean Internet Security; Antivirus should not have any effect, either). You may need to actually tell it not to load on boot up and then reboot your PC. Many firewalls continue to have effects on these connections if they have just been disabled after automatically loading. If it works without NIS running, then we can figure out how to give the PPC access through the firewall.

I disabled the firewall (and Left the rest of Norton Internet security running) and it still errored: "Unable to connect. Verify your dialup or proxy settings are correct, and try again."

I went through the settings, tried again and now there is a different error:
'communications error: cannot start communications with the desktop computer. reconnect your device. if the problem persists, see microsoft activesyn help.'

It still thinks you are going through the cradle. Make sure "Allow network [Ethernet] and Remote Access Service [RAS] server connection with this desktop computer" is checked on AS on th PC ("File, Connection Settings...). If that and the other settings described in the Guide are correct, you might try PocketHosts to associate the PC's IP with it's name.

I checked the settings again and the ethernet connection box was selected in AS on my PC. how do I use PocketHosts to associate the PC's IP with it's name?
Another question, not on AS; my clock keeps jumping ahead 2 hours. Can I fix that so it will stop?

It's been a long time since I used PocketHosts but I remember it being fairly self explanatory.

The clock issue is probably because your PC and PPC are not set to the same time zone. Also, make sure the 'automatic' daylight savings time is checked on the PC (I don't think there is such a setting on the PPC unless it's been added in recent versions of Windows Mobile).

Sorry I wasn't clear: PocketHosts (a little over half way down the page).
