Syncing only certain contacts?

Is there a way to only sync certain contacts from two different computers? I found the option in Activesync about only syncing contacts in certain catagories but it doesnt seem to work.

What I'm trying to do is get my work contacts (in a "work" category) sync'd with my PDA from my work comptuer. And my personal contacts (in a "personal" category) sync'd with my PDA from my home computer. Problem is every time I sync with the work computer it delets the personal contacts (I have it set to only sync with the "work" category).

Is this beyond the capabilities of ActiveSync? It seems pretty straight forward to me.

Some may argue, but I never got the AS categories to work with two PCs. it did just as you described.

I use AS at home (where I want to sync all items) and Intellisync at work, where I want to sync only some contacts and some appointments. Note that I don't mind these few being synced with the home PC, I have used Intellisync on both when I cared about it more

I found it easier just to use the filters in Outlook so that only the contacts you want to see are visible.

I have exactly the same scenario as harleyxlc, and resolve it in exactly the same way (does this mean that great minds DO indeed think alike? )

iam very new at this and i think you have the answer i need. i want only my business contacts on my work computer and personal contacts on my home computer. however, i want them both on my pda. you mention intellisync. how does that work and how do i do it. what do i buy.
thanks for any help. right now i don't sync my contacts at all for fear of them disappearing and or my personal contacts getting on my work server.

ssobel, the way I have my setup working is:

I have Activesync set up on my home PC to synchronise everything. This ensures that everything on my PPC is also on my home PC.

I have Activesync set up on my work PC but with all synchronisation turned off. This ensures that the stuff on my PPC doesn't get copied onto my work PC.

I have Pumatech Intellisync set up on my work PC, set to 'Import'. This ensures that stuff is copied from my work PC to my PPC.

So...I have my work PC stuff on my work PC, my PPC & my home PC, & I have my personal stuff on my PPC & my home PC.

(If I didn't want my work stuff on my home PC then I would install Intellisync on my home PC (as well as my work PC) & set it to 'Import')
