ActiveSync Why has it taken so long for this category?

Activesync 3.8 Comm Error

Help! I've recently purchased a new computer with Windows XP and wanted to sync my iPAQ 3850 with Outlook 2003. Old computer was Windows 98 SE and had activesync 3.5. Thought I would upgrade to Activesync 3.8 on new computer. It downloads fine and runs through the setup wizard. I connect the craddle and iPAQ when told to do so. Get message "Critical communications services have failed to start. Try resetting the mobile device, and then connect again." I have done a soft and hard reset of the mobile device, uninstalled and then reinstalled Activesync 3.8 about 5 times. Still continues to give the same message. This is getting very frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi motoman. Welcome to the forum. Do you have a firewall set up? Try disabliing it if you do.

Thanks for the reply. The only firewalls I know of to disable are the Windows firewall and McAfee firewall. Both are disabled.
