Are there Alternatives to Outlook?
Can anyone reccomend an alternative desktop calendar/contacts program that I can use instead of Outlook? I cannot get outlook to work so I'm throwing in the towel...but I really need to keep a calendar, contacts, and tasks list on my desktop and my Ipaq. Are there other programs out there?
Thanks Maduro ![]() | |||

Manduro Man,
I have heard that there are some problems with installing Outlook 2003, but you can always run repair utility in MS office and re-install activesync to sort it out. But ActiveSync has no problem to sync with Outlook 2002/2000. And ActiveSycn won't sycn with Outlook 97. This is so far the problem I have heard of/encountered. Get this sorted it out is the most straightforward thing to do. On this ground, I totally agree with sugar_cube. Good luck.

is their better than outlook
i join in the quest for alternatives to outlook, but for different reasons. i am a palm convert having a tough time. i am using outlook xp and it works ok, but it simply can't in my opinion hold a candle to thye palm desktop's power and ease of use. why does outlook have to be so complicated. i am devoted to sticking with the change from palm to ce because i believe it is the way of the future and palm's days are numbered, but can anyone recommend a good desktop replacement for outlook that is powerful and easy to use with the possibility of a web sync ability. thanks, mike elliott

Act! 2005
I'm a big fan of Act! Contact Manager, and have been using it since I first saw it demo'ed at Comdex in '83 or '84. The current version - 2005 - comes with it's own Sync'er for both Palm & Pocket PC.
UPSIDE: It's much more capable then Outlook. For instance you can customize the screens almost anyway you want - and add fields of lots of types. - call management is tops - incoming & outgoing. - lots more info on their website. DOWNSIDE: it costs money. You can download a 30-day full function copy from their website. BTW - wait 1 week to purchase, if that's the way you decide to go.
