I am a new member of ppc. I have been using Palm (T5) for a number of years
and am very comfortable with the Palm OS. Recently I have been getting a little tired of the OS and decided to purchase an IPAQ rx1950. I love the looks and feel of this handheld. I installed the Getting Started cd and followed each step as described after charging the unit. On my XP pc I get the following message when trying to sync.
Device not detected
COM1 not installed
COM2 not installed
COM4 available
COM5 available
IR Port not installed
USB USB is available

I downloaded Activesync 4.0.1.

In Microsoft Outlook I also get this message:
A connection to the server could not be established.
http://oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata
is now in offline mode.

I hope someone from this forum can help me because I have no knowledge with this format.

i have a similar problem to you, but on my ipaq (1940/5) it says that the communications port is unavailable and maybe being used by another program. im not sure how to resolve this as it could be the omputers fault, it worked on my other XP pc.

bingo, got it sorted. i went into the activesync on the ipaq, into options and i changed the setting to connect to the computer using USB NOT BLUETOOTH, which i had fiddled with before. maybe this will help also?
