activesync connection problems

I got a hx4700 for x-mass, i am having problems connecting with my laptop via activesync 3.7 and 3.8

i have installed activesync on my desk top and i can connect my ppc with no probs (after spending ages trying to get it to work with my laptop).

when trying to connect to my laptop the activesync symbol on the tool bar lights up green for 10secs then stops. i have disabled my firewall/virus scaner, and have uninstalled and reinstalled activesync several times, with no success.

i am guessing it's a hardware problem, but all my usb ports are working fine with other devices. does anyone have any ideas????

Thanks

Hi samnorthy and welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your new toy.

Have you tried to install activesync then restart the comptuer to see if that resolves it?

Have you tried a soft reset on your hx4700?

If all that fails,

Have you tried a hard reset (Press and hold the Calendar and Itask buttons plus the soft reset button for about 5 seconds.)? This will erase all data in main memory!!!

One of those, hopefully not the latter, should solve your problem.

i have tried both a hard and soft reset, i have installed activesync more times than i care to remember in the past few days. (i have fully removed it every time)
my ppc works fine with my desk top, via activsync which would suggest that the problem lies with my laptop. any more suggestions

You are setting up the PDA so that it keeps the settings of your desktop and keeps that as the primary? I think there might be a conflict that you laptop AS wants to be the primary connection.

once i realised that activesync and my hx4700 worked with my desktop i only synced as a guest. (knowing it wasn't a problem with the ppc) and i have peformed hard and soft rest's since anyway.

i get the hardware installed corectly bubble and i can see the device in device manager.

thanks for the suggestions keep them coming.

Are you syncing through a hub on your laptop, this is not always advised for this exact reason.

I am running dry on suggesstions now, lol!!!

mmmm, AS is a b**ch when it doesn't work. Wait and see if anyone else has some fresh ideas. I take it syncing with your laptop is essential then?

Seems an expensive solution that I should think is a software problem more than a hardware problem. Do you have access to any other laptop to see if it works, then see what differences in spec it is to yours.
