I am not certain what the problem is then. Usually when folks have had similar issues, it's been because they had firewall software set up on their desktop/laptop. When the firewall has been deactivated during the setup of the partnership, it usually worked out for them. Maybe somebody else has some ideas.

After a frustration (you had something wrong that makes you hard reset, right?) now AS not working.
I have one suggestion and hopefully might work. In AS try deleting the partnership you already have (PPC out of craddle), then connect the PPC and you'll start as for the first time. You'll have to define another partnership (name) but ... Good luck and please let me know whether solved the problem.

I know is not very nice as after hard reset you have probably had restored almost everything. What is not nice is that you may whish to hard reset again, try to connect with AS (the brand new device, without installing anything else). If it's OK, then you may continue to install and to check whether one of the software you have is creating problems. However, if you restore a backup created after one of the registry entry was damaged, then after hard reset you just re-create the problem you had before.
This AS thing is really frustrating sometime. Good luck.

For my PPC, I have 3 types of resets: Soft Reset, Hard Reset, and Clean Reset. Perform a Clean Reset if you have this option. Check your user manual. You may not have this option depending on your device. I have hx2410.

Raymond_Tengen is right, but I'm afraid is not the case with your device.
I would suggest a step-by-step approach. Start AS, disable everything in Tools>Options. Then dock the PPC and you should have a connection, saying the devices are synced. (obvious without anything sinced, just the connection). If yes, then try to add items to syncronise, like calendar and contacts, one by one. After OK it should syncronise the added item. Very probable the calendar is creating problems, but of course not sure. Then we should think about what's next. swhoutx035, you are right too, but what I found for WM5 (I'm 2003se) is following: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...riesId=1147973 "On Windows Mobile 5.0 products, a hard (full) reset stops all running programs, but does not clear user data or applications because they are stored in ROM (Persistent Store feature). A hard reset also resets all hardware registers. Users can perform a Clean Reset, in which the product is cleared to its factory defaults. A clean reset returns the HP iPAQ to the default Windows Mobile 5.0 settings with no user data or applications." Therefore "clean" in WM5 is in fact "hard" in 2003SE

Hi.
I will give you all some things about this. First off, a clean reset is only to be performed on Mobile 5 since that operating system have a ROM to store files, which PPC2003 doesnt. an iPAQ 36xx do have PPC 2003, so there's no clean reset function on that one. About the AS problem, follow the below steps very carefully, if you do not you will not get it to work, even though you said you have reinstalled AS several times without success, you need to do it correctly. 1. Remove ActiveSync from your computer. 2. Remove the cradle's USB connector from the PC 3. Go to the device manager, locate USB Rootnav and delete it 4. Restart your computer and let Windows detect the USB Rootnav again. 5. Download ActiveSync 4.1 here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync41.mspx 6. Before connecting the iPAQ's cradle to the PC, install and complete the installation of ActiveSync 4.1 7. When you for the first time starts ActiveSync it will ask you to connect the cradle, this is the time you need to do it (VERY IMPORTANT) 8. Set up a new partnership Everything should work smooth, please give me feedback on this.

Wi111, something else to try...
On your PC, open up Task Manager & see if there is a process called WCESCOMM.EXE (& maybe also WCESMGR.EXE); is so, disconnect your PPC from your PC, stop the process/es, re-connect your PPC to the PC, & (on your PC) click on Start/All Programs/Microsoft ActivSync. Hope you get it sorted soon ![]()
