Activesync 4.1 & 2 computers & 1 PDA
This may have already been discussed but I have been unable to find it anywhere.
I have a 2755 that has been upgraded to Windows Mobile 5 and using ActiveSync 4.1. I set it up on my office computer, establish a partnership, etc, etc. Everything is fine. I go to my home computer, do the same. So far so good. When I go back to my office computer, it will not recognize that the PDA has already been synced with that compter, and I have to reestablish a partnership again. In doing so, it changes my device name from what I had it set to. Once it is set up, I have no problem syncing with it and having it recognizing the PDA. When I go back to my home computer, the same thing happens. I have to reestablish the partnership, and it goes on and on. Has anyone else ever encountered this? I see on the MS Mobile support site that some people have, but no solution was noted.Any help appreciated. As an aside, I also have an h4155 running Windows Mobile 2003, and the same thing happens with it. Every time I go to th second computer, I have to reestablish the partnership. ![]()

Actually, my AS 4.1 did the same thing. I manually set the name, deleted the partnerships/recreated and it cleared up. But I also only sync things using one PC....the other has AS installed, and it stopped changing the names, but I sync with Intellisync.

When setting up the partnership on the second computer you need to make sure you select the alternative box to "The device syncs with this computer only". (I can't remember the exact wording of each option but it's the non default one.) That will allow multiple partnerships to be created for the one PDA.

Thanks for the help. I am more impressed with WM5 on this device than I was on the 1955. With that device, I couldn't even get it to sync at all, and had multiple problems with Outlook 2k3. This one is pretty stable, and if I synced with one computer it would be no problem. ![]()

Which ever one you set up a partnership with first just leave the setting default, the second time you set up a partnership, choose to leave existing partnerships.
