Active sync+Active Directory+ Exchange=annoying problem
Right where to start.
Active sync keeps hanging when trying to sync as an end user. It will sync but stops for 2 - 3 mins first. First setup it hangs for about 5 mins before running through and then every time you remove and re insert the PDA it hangs again. First things I've tried. I've tried a new Ipaq 4700 for reference with no difference. I also used a Axim V51 and that has the same problem with this one user as well. tried all versions of active sync 3.8, 4.0 and 4.1 and all of them have the same problem. We are using exchanged linked in with AD and if I log onto the PC as the end user and try and sync his mailbox its hangs as above. However if I log in as exchange admin account map his mail box then its syncs 100% perfect and really quick. Fine I thought must be a permission problem somewhere in exchange or AD however the user has full rights to his own mail box and giving him local admin permissions make no difference at all plus he has no other problems with his mail just this niggle. I'm sync'ing with the PC locally on USB and not directly with exchange. I've also tried all this on another PC and the problem follows the user. so can't be the PC/PDA/USB or Software. I figure it has to be something to do with linking through outlook but I can't figure it out. I know this is likely to be an exchange or AD fault but I'm after some points or places to start. Can anyone explain how Active Sync works when sync'ing with the local PC. Does it actually access exchange or does it just take the local outlook info? Anyone else ever seen similar problems? If I've not explained it too well then please ask any questions and I'll try to get as much information up as possible.

If you are using directly sync to exchange server, you can find the error codes on the device itselfe.
Be sure to have OMA & MIS enabled and to heve a good security certificate. Don't forget to register that certificate on the PPC itselfe. Other work around : don't sync with server but with local-ost-outlook.
