Cannot sync - "Cannot open Outlook. Outlook requires Outlook Explorer 4.01 or greater

Then I'm told to run ie5setup.exe, which is nowhere on my computer. I'm currently running ie7beta. I loaded Outlook 2002 from the CD that came with my ipaq (rx3100), to no avail. If I remember correctly, this problem began after a friend set up a home network at my house to facilitate wireless internet. After about six warning windows, I get a "Synchroniztion cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the network and access information. Contact your network administrator."

I haven't been able to sync in over two months, and I've seemingly tried everything but a hard reset. I am perilously close to losing all of my information, which would be a bad, bad thing! If anybody could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ahead of time.

Have you tried uninstalling A/S from the PC where it's installed, deleting any partnerships that are on the PC, & then re-installing A/S?

Not yet, but I will tonight. You would think that would fix it. Thanks.

Let us know how it goes (it will help others with a similar problem in the future to know what you've tried & what the outcome was).

No dice. I removed ActiveSync, downloaded and installed AS 4.1, and set up a new partnership. But about fifteen seconds into syncing, I got the same "Cannot open Outlook. Outlook requires Outlook Express 4.01 or greater." That sounds like an easy fix, but has not proved easy. Every time I try to download it (say Outlook 5), I'm told my current version of Internet Explorer (7b) will not allow it because I have too new a version of IE. Do I need to remove IE, download an old version of IE to be able to download Outlook, and then delete IE and reinstall IE 7b? That sounds like a lot of work to fix what I though would be an easy problem! Any further help would be appreciated!
