Active Sync and Outlook in Qtek S200-PROBLEM!!!

Hi everybody!
I have a problem with synchronizing my contacts, calendar, tasks etc. When I start Active sync, it synchronizes all the files (music, photos, etc) and programs but could not synchronize Outlook stuff!! I reinstalted several times Microsoft Outlook 2002 (which was on the getting started CD) but it doesn't help. When the synchronization is over, the following message appears, when I click on the Exchange message: "The server could not be reached. This can be caused by temporarly network conditions. Support code: 80072ee2"
On my PC, I use Outlook Express 6.0, maybe it's not compatibile with the MO 2002??
Also, I don't see any icon of the MO 2002, I could not open it on my PC ( could not find it), but in the folder of Add/Delete programs is present (192 MB)!

The message on my device is: Exchange Server Synchronized: None.

I delated the program (MS Outlook 2002) again and reinstaled it again, I delated the device on Active Sync and connected the device. The message was, that I could synchronize only files, music etc and not contacts, calendar, task because I don't have Outllook instaled...

During the set up Wizard of Outlook there is a funny message, that the program will instal the following aplications: Microsoft Outlook 2002 and there is a red cross with (not available), but when I click:instal!, it does it properly only in one moment the system message appears: you don't have a disc inside, please insert disc (the disc is of course there!!). I have to click several times on continue and then the message disappears... Of course, again I can't find the program on my PC, only it appears on add/delate programs.

I really don't understand it. Maybe the version of Office that I have (Microsoft Office 2000 premium 9.0.2812) somehow is creating a problem.... Or maybe the program on my official CD has problem (I don't think so, because Active Sync from the same CD is working Ok)...

I really don't have any idea what should I do to synchronize properly all the information.

Maybe someone of you had a similar problem and could share the experience??? I hope so.....

I would be very grateful!!

As far as I'm aware, A/S can't sync with Outlook Express.

It sounds as though there is a compatibility problem when installing Outlook - if you have the original disks for MS Office 2000 I would uninstall Outlook 2000 (you might have this as a choice when you insert the original disk), or uninstall the whole package & then do a custom install, omitting Outlook, & then try installing Outlook 2002.

A/S doesn't work only with Outlook 2002 - it will also work with later versions, so you could always try a later version of Outlook if you can get hold of one (either a stand-alone version or as part of an updated version of MS Office).

Also, I can't find in the Office 2000 on my PC the Outlook 2000 (the only Outook I have is the Express 6.0), there are Excel, Word, Power Point, Front Page etc but no Outlook....strange...

It sounds as though Outlook is not loaded on your PC, which can be the result of either deliberately not being installed or not being installed because of errors when trying to install it originally.

If you feel confident enough then you could try the following:
Export a copy of the registry on your PC, then trawl through the registry (the real registry - not the copy) looking for any entries relating to Outlook - delete them, then try installing Outlook 2002 again. (NOTE: Please do make a copy of your registry before doing anything with it or in it; the only time you will need to restore your registry is the one time that you didn't make a copy of it ).

Before I tell you, please bear in mind what I said earlier - the registry controls your PC, so if you mess it up your PC won't work (or will work but cause you problems), so only do this if you are confident of what you're doing or you can afford to have to rebuild your PC (worst case scenario). Now I've scared you ...

On your PC, click on the START button, then on the 'Run...' icon.

In the box that opens up type 'regedit' & click on 'OK'.

When the registry is displayed, click on 'File', then 'Export...'; give the export file a meaningful name & choose whereabouts on your PC to save it. Your registry is now backed up in case things go horribly wrong.

Then click on 'Edit', then 'Find...'; type in 'outlook.exe' & start searching

Marbron, you have asked a very good question there; unfortunately I don't have Outlook Express installed so I can't tell you the answer!

I would suggest searching through your registry for 'outlook' (without deleting anything), & see if entries for Outlook Express turn up (as well as entries for Outlook).
