Synchronization Error in AS 4.2
I am having trouble syncing my new Ipaq 2795b w/ActiveSync 4.2. I have rebooted the PC, soft reset the PDA, etc...sometimes it will sync, and sometimes it won't. Ending the processes on the desktop WCESMgr and wcescomm and then restarting them doesn't help.

Have you been able to download and install the ROM update for this model?
Software and Drivers - HP iPAQ hx2700 Pocket PC Series hx2795b, Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 You may have the ActiveSync mode switch on your IPAQ that will allow you to change from the default RNDIS mode to USB Serial Sync Mode - this may resolve your problem. Tap Start > Settings > Connections > ActiveSync Mode icon. julie

Yes I'm running ROM update 1.02-it actually came w/the device.
My ipaq is also already running in USB serial sync mode instead of RNDIS mode. It's wierd, on my desktop to get it to sync, I've gotta close WCESMgr and end active sync on the PPC, then put it in the cradle and it will sometimes sync. Not all the time, though. Thing is, I just did a clean reset on the device two weeks ago, and this is a brand new install of Activesync 4.2.

Do you suppose it is some kind of firewall issue? I recently tried out Norton's Security suite (came on a new laptop) and was having some problems and found a rather obscure setting in Norton that was causing the problem. Once I disabled it, everything was fine.

I suppose it could be a firewall issue, but the fact that sometimes it will sync and sometimes not (most of the time not unless I run those two running processes) makes me wonder. What exactly did you do (I run Norton firewall as well)?

Oh I was afraid you might ask that - unfortunately, I can't remember. And I found Norton, which was a 6 month trial version to be a problem for me, so I deleted the software. Look through all the security options and mess around with those settings. I remember having some random ActiveSync issues as well as problems gaining full access to my WIFI connection.
