Activesync hangs when seting up relationship

Hi all,

On the PC that I have activesync installed on I had a partitioned HDD with windows XP pro on one partition and linux on the other. I just removed the linux partition and the bootloader but it screwed up a little and I ended up having to reinstall the core windows files but luckily didn't have to format the drive or anything. Active sync refused to connect to my wizard so I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it and I can now connect to my deviec sort of but I cannot set up a sync relationship. When the wizard comes up saying 'to set up a sync relationship click next' it just hangs and I can't do anything with my PC until I disconnect the phone again.

I've tried Activesync 4.0, 4.2 and 4.5 with no success. My PPC (HTC Wizard, WM5) always sync'ed without any problems prior to the recent kafuffle

Any suggestions?

sounds like a USB issue... have you updated the system software?

During the install of Activesync it says 'updating USB drivers' but apart from that no. I'm fully windows updated but should I look for some proprietry mobo drivers or something?

I tried latest drivers from nvidia for my mobo and I have service pack 2 installed already but I still have the problem. I notice in device manager there is nothing for USB 2 so I'm guessing it's that causing the problem. Can't seem to find any USB 2 drivers through, can I reinstall service pack 2 even though it's already installed?

Any suggestions would be welcomed, I don;t really want to format and reinstall just to connect to my device...
