AS actually DELETING my appointments!!
I'm floored. My work laptop is xp(latesteverything) with Outlook 2003. My phone is a Samsung (Sprint) 6601, with WM5. My home box is Vista Ultimate, but was XP. I sync with work all the time. I sync with home every great once in a while. I just want the major appointments & all contacts. The phone is set to override home, and work is set to override the phone. It always caused duplicates & triplicates, but I fixed those manually. After a while, I noticed that the home pc was missing several appointments. So I synced with home, then synced with work. The son-of-a-@#$% deleted the appointments from the phone AND my work PC! I couldn't get it to repeat, so I thought it was just a fluke. However, after upgrading to Vista, I did the same thing and WHAM, it did it again! WTF!?!?
It only chooses certain appointments and there is no pattern to its choice. I had 3 appts on Fri for reviews of 3 team members. It deleted 2 & left 1. That makes absolutely no sense. I'm afraid to use it at all, even for one computer now! I have backups, but what if I don't know it deleted something? Any help is greatly appreciated. - John

I think you misunderstand the nature of syncing. When you say the phone is set to override home and work is set to override the phone, this indicates you think there is some way to prioritize this process.
The way that options works is as follows: if during a sync ActiveSync recognizes that some change has occurred on the same record on both the home and phone data, the phone change will prevail. If during a sync ActiveSync recognizes that some change has occurred on the same record on both the work and phone, the work change will prevail. This only applies for records where changes have occurred on both the home and phone or both the phone and work. Otherwise ActiveySync would be confused. But if UNIQUE changes occur on the phone and not work, these changes are passed to work without question. So if you delete a record on the phone, the deletion also occurs on work when you sync. If you delete a record on work (but not the phone), the deletion occurs on the phone when you sync. Does that make sense?

Really?!?
Starting out with "I think you misunderstand" isn't the most tactful way to communicate, but I should be (and I am) grateful that you took the time to respond.
Yes, I understand how it works. The key for you from my original post here would be "random". It deleted appointments with no pattern at all. No, they were not deleted or even altered from the other 2 calendars. The fact that it would consistently duplicate contacts & appointments tells me that it has a hard time comparing them, because the phone data was created from the pc data & should therefore be identical & remain identical unless I alter it in some way on one of the interfaces. So I'm guessing it had trouble matching up and decided that certain data wasn't supposed to be there, even though I never touched it on any interface.
