Worried X30 - Resync after hard disk crash

Hiya

The hard disk of my Dell laptop crashed. Fortunately, all my Outlook data on Axim X30 was syncronized with the laptop. Now I need to start all over again installing software on the new hard disk. What would be right steps to install ActiveSync and Outlook? How do I ensure that data on my Axim does not get wiped out when I first syncronize with the laptop?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have synced with a clean hard drive several times and it has always worked properly if using the default sync settings. To be sure, why don't you backup your X30 before syncing.

Hi,

After reinstalling Outlook and Activesync, switch your Axim on and place it in the cradle. After establishing a connection you should then be asked to choose between three options:

(I can't remember that actual words but these are close):

1) Merge contacts between PC and Axim
2) Replace data on PC with data from Axim
3) Replace data on Axim with data from PC

Which ever is closest to option 2) is the option you need.

But follow Gigi's advice and back up your Axim to an SD card first.

Slainte.
