Device not recognized?

Hello all,

Axim X51v, ActiveSync 4.5, Windows Live OneCare Firewall

Huge issues getting Activesync to work properly. No problems over the last few months, now the device is not recognized. When the device is placed in the cradle, nothing happens. This was tried with two different cradles and with different USB ports. However if I go to Settings/Connections/USB to PC and enable "advanced network function" then the device is recognized and I am asked to install drivers, etc. When I attempt to install drivers, this is unsuccessful. However I do not think "advanced network function" should be enabled.

I also uninstalled activesync and reinstalled 4.5.

I did a soft reset.

I turned off Windows Live Onecare.

Activesync has got to be the biggest failure with the Windows mobile platform!

Any ideas? I am completely at a loss. Thank you for any assistance.

You may need to perform a full reset of the pocket pc to get it working again.

Thanks Julie,

Never having performed a hard reset, I assume I will have to reinstall all my data and software? Is this what you mean by "full reset".

If so, I'll try this as a last resort as I am much too lazy to have to reinstall/restore everything.

Yes, a full reset will remove all your files, settings and any applications you have installed to the Pocket PC and restore it to its factory settings.

After performing a full reset, you should not restore the pocket pc with a backup file since this will most likely restore your problem.
