ActiveSync forces proxy settings on PDA?
Ok -- I'm tired of this and need to finally ask for a solution.
Basically, every time I put my X51v into the cradle, my proxy server settings from IE7 on my desktop are transferred/synced to PocketIE on my Axim. This is somewhat annoying since I don't WANT to use the proxy server when I'm using my Axim. It is HIGHLY annoying because there is no good way to turn OFF the proxy server settings from the Axim without modifying the registry! Note that the ONLY thing I have checked to "sync" with ActiveSync is my Calendar. Nothing else is checked. The fact that MS has decided to sync my desktop's proxy settings to my PDA is not the best decision I've seen lately. So -- what is the solution to this? I'm looking for one of the following: 1. A way to tell ActiveSync to NOT send my desktop's proxy settings to my Axim ever time I cradle it. 2. A simple app or other configuration location to turn off proxy settings on my Axim when I don't want them without having to do it the way I currently do: which is to go into the registry with PHM RegEdit and remove the proxy settings. Any help/suggestions? Thanks! - John...

Is activesync configured to "pass through" internet acess from your pc to the pda.
This is a common feature of activesync, just check in pocket ie when you are synced and see if you can load any websites. Or you can check in the settings, b/c the proxy settings might be screwing up the whole thing. I think that as is using the pass through internet feature, and decides the ppc will need all the proxy settings in order for it to work.

This is one frustrating PDA to use !!
I'm having the same problem as you, connecting up to some proxy that doesn't exist anywhere on my PDA or PC, heck I have no idea why it checks off the proxy box and puts in Px2so:80 as a proxy? When activesync is set to work network as opposed to Automatic I can get a clean connection without the proxy box being selected, sometimes! The part that is REALLY aggravating me is that when the PPC is synced to the PC my PC screen flashes and I can't do any work on my PC, because dialouge boxes close, etc.? Does anyone have a solution? Is there a good manual somewhere that helps to setup a network properly? Any input would be appreciated FRUSTRATED John

Finally got this issue fixed as well as the issue of "Unable to obtain a server assigned IP address" error.
Set Active Sync to "work network" instead of Auto or Internet. As for the second error Go to open the Control Panel | Connections | Network Cards applet and tap on the Remote-NDIS Host item. If Use server assigned IP address is selected, change to selecting Use specific IP address and set the address fields to: 169.254.2.1 255.255.255.0 blank Hope this works as well for you as it did for me!! I'm finally enjoying my new PDA! John
