Get rid of partnerships to free up the name

I had to restore my Axim X50v from backup and now I've been trying to get the sync set up.

I'm sure I've deleted the partnerships but now if I want to use the PDA device_id name I want to use (Holly as it used to be) it tells me it's already in use and no can do.
ActiveSync on the PC has no partnerships, ActiveSync on the PDA has no partnerships, so where is it hidding the name and thinking it's in use?!!!!

I've been slightly referring to these two webpages, but now I've just got angry coz I feel I'm going round in circles. :realmad:
Understanding ActiveSync or WMDC Partnerships
[lost the address of an axim topic now]

If someone could help it would really make me :)

I have been there.
I searched the Axim, and its registry = no luck!

I searched my computer and its registry = no luck.

I uninstalled Active Sync, rebooted, reinstalled, uninistalled, ........ = no luck.

I posted request s for help here on AximSite, and got all sorts of great advice, and a bunch of sob stories (like mine here) and still could not get this to work THE WAY IT SHOULD!!!!!

I gave up, and now I have a third new partnership name, and two old names that I just cannot use. There is something stuck way in the bowels of something somewhere that just won't let go of those old names.

Sorry to be of NO REAL HELP,
and GOOD LUCK! :)

or you can try activetweak. it not only deletes the registry entries for the partnership, it also deletes the directory.

Yeah, I know typical microsoft.
I'm wondering actually if it's worth having a different program on my pda that will sync with a pda version for calendar (& maybe contacts)

I tried renaming the folder which should have the same effect, didn't help.

I think I'll try it on my laptop sometime which I havn't used for my PDA yet.

On the PC, go to C:\Documents and Settings\Your Login Name\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles
Delete the directory with the device name that you're trying to reuse.
