Aximsitex3icon AS not connecting - cant set up new relationship

I started having an issue with syncing a few days ago after trying one of those RSS reader programs. I deleted(Unistalled) what I thought the culprit was but have not been able ro sync since.
Running on Windows XP
AS 4.5
latest driver for Axim x30H

I have reinstalled AS, nothing, then driver nothing then I deleted the relationship in the hope to establish a new relationship but I CANT. It says that the wizard comes up first time when you open AS well it didnt. That was when I AGAIN installed AS but no wizzard...of course no manual way to start the wizzard and the help section....well ya know

So here I am AGAIN, you guys always get me out of the dog house...I read the various posts, have no firewall issues...oh yea should mention that AS does not start out automatically when I connect. When I start it I hear the little connection ding that AS makes but it does nothing..well it dings again...
PLEASE

Have you tried:
  • Making sure that all cables are properly seated
  • Using a primary USB port (not via a USB hub)
  • A different pc (perhaps a laptop)
  • Downgrading/upgrading Activesync
  • Rechecking your firewall settings (yes, I did read your post :))
  • Making sure that you are logged on as an Administrator (in XP) - Just thinking out loud :)
  • Soft reset
  • Hard reset (backup first to a card)
I know it's frustrating, but stick with it :)

Thanks Jogga, with exception of hard reset I have tried this. Now I do not have administrator rights on my lap top (work PC) but it has never caused a problem.

You should be able to restore from a backup by:
  • Resetting your Regional Settings to their pre-reset condition (Start, Settings, System (tab) and Regional Settings)
  • Cradle the Axim and connect as a Guest
  • From the Tools Menu in Activesync, select Backup/Restore... and then the Restore tab
  • Follow the instructions
Hope this helps.
