Setting up "new" partnership with "old" profile
I just had one of those "memory error" problems with my x50 and it wiped out everything. When I put it in the cradle hooked up to my PC, it gives me the option of setting up a guest profile or a new profile but it doesn't give me the name of my old profile as an option to pick, even though I can find the directory on my PC with the old profile name. How can I set up my profile using my old profile name? (I do have a backup also of the files and apps I lost).

Update....using a guest profile, I restored my most recent backup, disconnected, did a soft reboot, and connect my PPC to the cradle. For a second my old profile came up in AS on my PC screen like it was going to sync but then it went away and the screen saying I have to set up a new partnership comes up. If I cancel, it shows an Active Sync screen with a Guest profile. If I take my PPC out of the cradle, the Active Sync screen changes to my old profile - until I set the PPC back in the cradle. What's going on and how can I get to my profile?

Isn't ActiveSync wonderful? (NOT!!). Go to your Axim and tap Start>Programs>Activesync. It will show the Partnerships on your PPC. I assume you only have on PC you're syncing with. If your x50 shoes two of them, delete the one you don't want. With the Axim out of the cradle, go to Activesync on the PC and go to File>Mobile Device and do the same thing.
