Manual sync
My cradle's USB is always plugged to my PC's USB port so everytime I docked my Axim, sync will begin automatically even though I don't want to do it. Is there any thing that can be done so that I can manually start Activesync?

There are only 2 things that I do to achieve what you want quickly,
I either unplug the USB to the cradle or as soon as I put the Ax in and it turns on I hit the Ax power button which kills activesync connect.

There is a freeware utility called togglesync (?) that will run on your pc and lets you turn off activesync when you don't need it.

I'm using ActiveSyncToggle now. It disables Active sync but whenever I docked my Axim, a USB connection would be made automatically and my Axim would turn off even Activesync is disabled. Is there anyway to prevent these two things?
