After I dock my Axim 05, I get a message that it cannot sync and to reconnect my device and disconnects. It used to give me the message that it could not sync, but it would stay connected. What can I do to keep it connected even though it cannot or has nothing to sync? If my calendar or contacts don't change, there is nothing to sync. What can I do?

Most simple things first:
Have you tried a different USB port?
Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling ActiveSync?
Have you checked the connections (cradle, USB, etc.)
I've done those. I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. I upgraded ActiveSync from 3.7.1 (it came with my Axim X5) to 4.5 and everything worked for about 10 days and then quit again yesterday.

I will try going back to 3.8 as I no longer have 3.7.1. I went to 4.5 primarily on a suggection from another forum. I tried shutting down my virus blocker and my firewall entirely to check that could be the reason (suggestion from ActiveSync Help as it seems to start to sync and then stops)

I went back to 3.8 and it has (I think) Pocket Access, but I still cannot connect. AS seems to start, connect, and sync and then stops and disconnects. AS HELP doesn't seem to be of much help. Says to check Virus Blocker, but won't even work when I disable my VB and the firewall. I need some good suggestions. Will probably have to spend some money by calling Microsoft for help.
