Can I sync my Axix 51 without Outlook?

I have Vista Home Premium on my laptop and I want to be able to sync my Dell Axim 51 with my laptop. But it keeps saying I need Outlook, however I'm using OpenOffice.
Is there some way to sync without Outlook, or is there a place which lists all the files I would have to manually backup from my PDA to the laptop? I just want to back up contacts, to do list, calendar to my laptop.

Thanks!

you definitely can sync without Outlook. You might have to go into active sync and tell it you don't want to sync that file.

If all you want is a backup (that is, no requirement to access the backed up data on the PC), you probably just want a PPC-based backup solution. Look at Sprite Backup or Spb Backup and invest in an SD and/or CF card. If you want the backup on your PC as well, invest in an inexpensive USB card reader.

If you're using something like Thunderbird, this site has a tutorial for how to set that up with a pocket PC, using examples of a free and paid application as a sync client.
