Can I sync my Axix 51 without Outlook?
I have Vista Home Premium on my laptop and I want to be able to sync my Dell Axim 51 with my laptop. But it keeps saying I need Outlook, however I'm using OpenOffice.
Is there some way to sync without Outlook, or is there a place which lists all the files I would have to manually backup from my PDA to the laptop? I just want to back up contacts, to do list, calendar to my laptop. Thanks! [Tim] | |||

you definitely can sync without Outlook. You might have to go into active sync and tell it you don't want to sync that file.

If all you want is a backup (that is, no requirement to access the backed up data on the PC), you probably just want a PPC-based backup solution. Look at Sprite Backup or Spb Backup and invest in an SD and/or CF card. If you want the backup on your PC as well, invest in an inexpensive USB card reader.

If you're using something like Thunderbird, this site has a tutorial for how to set that up with a pocket PC, using examples of a free and paid application as a sync client.
