So today I looked into the issue further. WinMo Center says there is no device connected. Now, my device is connected right now vis USB port directly on my laptop. I went to device manager. There is a little section that does say Mobile devices. Beneath it, it says Pocket PC Usb sync. I tried updating the drivers and no success. Nothing is connected according to WinMo Center. Now what? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver and had no luck. I dont' own Outlook at all. That doesn't affect anything does it?
Have you VERIFIED that activesync is allowed through your firewall? It should be called "Windows Mobile-based Device Connectivity" in the firewall exceptions tab.
You have to select ActiveSync on the Fuze or it will ONLY mount the memcard as a drive letter.
Do you have Admin rights on the PC?
Have you considered doing a hard reset on the Fuze in case your attempts to disable activesync fubared it?

I use McAfee AOL edition. Theres a virus protection and firewall. I disabled the firewall and still had no luck. My windows firewall is disbaled. is there something else to do here in the exceptions tab?
I have selected ActiveSync.
I have admin rights on the PC. I'm the only account.
In terms of the activesync, to stop it from running in the background, I disabled automatic clock sync with the internet and that stopped it, but I can run active sync manually no problem. I dont have a data plan so I disabled the data connection as well...I really want to try and avoid the hard reset function. I really haven't done much to the device since I got it on Christmas.
It seems like the device just wont make the partnership.
Well, I finally got my Fuze to connect! See, i don't have a data plan so I've kept the data connection option disabled. After I enabled it, I was able to connect and now it works fine. Thanks to everyone for helping me out! I really appreciate it. :)
I have one other quick questio. Im trying to install garmin mobile xt software, but do I need to run the att navigator first to set up the gps chip? Thanks again guys.

nope... just go outside. the GPS works with ANY app that uses it.
Google Maps
Live Maps (Microsoft)
GPS Photo in the camera
etc.
Verify that you have the GPS configured to use COM4 and is managed by windows.
Settings \ system \ external GPS \ Prog port = COM4 \ hardware = none/4800
Settings \ system \ agps settings \ disable \ disable
Then run QuickGPS from your programs menu and enable and auto download (since you have no dataplan, allow it to use activesync)
