I link my Axim x51v PDA to both my work office PC and my home PC via MS Active Sync and have done this at previous places of work. In the past I just placed the PDA in the cradle and the sync occurs, including by Bluetooth.
I've changed work and now find that I have to delete the linked PC off the PDA before it will re-link and syncronise. I need to do this at both home and office - this is awkward. I also get a lot of duplicated tasks and notes which I have to manually manage.
I presuem there is somethign in the settings that is causing this - but I do not know where these are (I have looked)
The home PC runs Win XP pro and the office PC runs Win 2000.
Admins, please move this thread to Activesync forums.
Make sure both your Home and Work PC has Activesync 4.5 installed.
1. Delete all partnerships with Activesync and we will start with a clean slate
2. Connect your Axim with your home PC first and let it sync successfully. Call the partnership "Home"
3. Now connect your Axim with your work PC and it will find the partnership "Home". Ignore that and create a new partnership and call it "Work"
4. Now back at your Home PC, see if it syncs successfully

Thanks John
I deleted all partnerships and have synced at home (where I am now).
I have 'ActiveSync version 4.5.0 (Build 5096)' on this home PC.
I will check which active sync version is on the work PC tomorrow (had to be installed by the IT guys) and I'll report back. I'm now at work and can confirm that the version of Active Sync is the same as at home i.e. 'ActiveSync version 4.5.0 (Build 5096)' . The synchronisation I am allowing is 'Combine the items on my device with the items on this computer', the alternatives will not include the changes to the tasks and notes made at home. So I will be in trouble when I return home this evening and attempt to re-sync.
I've returned homethis evening and want to re-sync with my home PC (and will again want to re-sync with the office PC in the morning).
As a result of connecting the cradle to the PC and then placing the PDA in the cradle; I get 'Synchronisation Setup Wizard' - no choice what to do. The next window option is to delete one of the sync relationships.
Why does it not recognise the PDA as being the one it synced with yesterday? If I try to delete either of the relationships (home or office) it says it removing desktop information - but then stops without removing either. I have to delete on the PDA itself.
It seems that when I change from one PC to another, that the PC's ActiveSync does not recognise the partnership and wants to make another, new partnership. It can only do this if one, on the PDA is deleted. I have looked at all the PDA's Active Sync settings (there are not many) and cannot see anything to help.
Just curious, try making the name of the partnership the same for both computers. See if Activesync then recognize it.

Thank you John - I tried that with a number of times with no sucess at all.
I've also tried to get my home PC to link via Bluetooth (I have had this working successfully in the past), the PDA was recognised but no active sync could be done :-(
Now I can't get the office PC to connect to the PDA via the cradle and USB. I've rebooted both PDA and PC (many times).
I'm afraid you may wind up having to perform a factory reset to get everything working properly again. You could backup the entire contents of your pocket pc, perform the factory reset then check to see if that resolves the issue. If it does, then you'll need to rebuild your pocket pc, reinstalling any applications you've installed to it in the past, etc, from scratch.
If a factory reset does not resolve the problem, then you can restore from your backup file and be no worse off (but I believe a factory reset will fix the problem).

Hold Power button and press reset button on the back, and follow the on screen instructions.
Be aware that this will wipe all your data and programs.
You should back everything up and be prepared to reinstall all the applications that you use.
If you use a good backup software you can restore, but that often restores the problem if the back up wasn't made when your Ax was running perfectly.
It is best to remove SD and CF cards as well.
