Alernative to Activesync???

I'm wondering if there is an alternative to Activesync. For some reason I don't like the auto startup and the strange processes that I see in task manager when I use it. I'm wondering if there's an on demand alternative to it.

What I really need is a program that can sync my contacts, excel, and calender.

Any suggestions peeps?

There are a couple of alternatives, but I'm in the Pub as usual and can't remember exactly what they are.

One option to quieten down Activesync is Activesync Toggle.
It allows you to turn AS on and off on your PC so it doesn't start up all the time.
Softic Card Export is another useful program, lets you connect without AS to any computer.

I don't have links for them to hand but google will get them for you.

Also, have a look at akajohndoe's My PDA, I'm pretty sure he has some alternatives, I may be wrong.

Hey hey Senor Box!

Yer always in the pub!!! Tsk tsk. Just kiddin.' Yeah I just remembered I have Activesync Toggle somewhere here in my trays of CD/DVD's. I'm a very organized person but I just don't label some of my disks!

The Softic Card Export sounds like BT. I use my BT to explore my Ax and I can eve drag stuff into the PDA that way. I don't really see what the difference is.

I know that Contacts can be stored as VCards. How do I do that with my list of ppl in my Ax??? With the VCards I could just send that to my Laptop via IR or BT and Outlook will transcode that into my comp (I hope).

The Excel get's stored as a certain file type. The Calender I'm not sure of. When I find the file type I can get this thing worked out for myself. Right now I'm almost off to work so I won't know until late tonight.

I've been using Card Export II for about a month now and am wondering if anyone has any trouble with it? I seem to be suffering from permission issues or something has been altered in my CF card. I plug that CF into my card reader and I can't open it. It tells me to insert a card. My SDHC card also got fried so I don't know what to make of it. The cards are not too cheap (im in school) so if there are any suggestions I'd appreciate it. TIA.

I remember back in the day Chapura made a pretty nice PocketMirror app. The latest version is now called PocketCopy. There's another sync app that is free called Funambol, which can be found here, though I think it's more a cloud computing app, but it does have desktop sync tool for Outlook and has multiplatform support.
