Prashant? Where do I know your name from?

Sorry, I have no idea about your question, but at least you have a bump.

No idea on what language/app you are using....but a short answer would be to have a command to search for a specific file within ActiveSync (like wcesmgr.exe or wcescomm.exe) and then have a yes/no situation setup dependant on the results?

well Mr. brainbulge, my name is prashant and i am from pune, India.

Mr. David Smith, I have wrote code in c++ in MS Visual studio. what you suggest is a basic way to do that and at client side you will never know where the active Sync is installed and searching will be time consuming.
Instead of that i want to know that is there anything (e.g. registry entry) given by microsoft?

It shouldn't take too long, but it would be faster to search the registry.

To answer your question: Yes, there are registry entries for ActiveSync that the software could search for.

Both methods can be made to search a specific folder to quicken the process, but if the default install location was changed then it would change things drastically (if searching through folders and not the registry).
You're correct about looking towards the registry~

I'll see if I can get a code to do what you need and post back when I do.

David

Look at this site
Also look here

Those are all I could find so far....but I'm still looking for a solution :)

Also, it seems that you could accomplish this task by looking at ports instead of the registry?
