How to restrict AS to do only FileSync ??

Hi there,

I need a solution to restrict ActiveSync to do only a FileSync with the workstation(s).

I know the registry-settings for the workstation:
- for example -
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows CE Services/Partners/%USER%Services/Synchronisation/Objects/Appointment --> set to <*Invalid*>

But what are the settings to be modified on the device?

I'd like to achieve that the device will only be able to sync files at the home- or company-PC. No PIM Sync should be allowed, as we do this with 3rd Party (server-based).

The user should not be able to reset the settings.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi pmichael, you should be able to control this through your activesync settings on the workstations/pcs you sync with. Open ActiveSync on the workstation, select Options. Uncheck all the boxes except Files and whatever third party app you might use to sync your PIM data. Do this on each workstation you sync with.

Centrally managed

Thanks,

but I need to manage this centrally. This should be no choice by the user but by the admin. All users in the company should only be able to use FileSync. They should not be able to configure anything in ActiveSync

Can you set policy via Active Directory? If you can you may be able to push out a registry hack on the desktops...

I think if you only allow users to connect to ActiveSync in guest mode, then all they will be able to sync is documents. See this link for information about how you can do this:
