ActiveSync Why has it taken so long for this category?

Hi, just built new Shuttle PC (XP sp2), installed 4.2 Activsync. However, ones its been left for a while, like 15 mins, it will just disconnect. When I try and reconnect it days no modem installed (on IPAQ). If I switch it off and on then it reconnects straight away. I am using the USB cradle, never had any probs before so it must be something on the new PC. I am using Outlook 2003.
